When I was in my 20’s I loved working out and playing ball with my friends but now that I’m older I just don’t have the same drive for physical activities. Exercise is important for people of all ages and increasingly crucial for when you are getting older, helping you to prevent heart diseases, increasing your energy, and strengthening the defenses of your immune system; but it’s not easy to find the time (or the drive) to set apart for going to the gym or practicing a sport.

As we get older we just can’t give ourselves the luxury of being so casual with out health. That’s why I have made an effort to take care of my body by increasing the amount of exercise I do, but at the same time making sure that I don’t sacrifice the joy I get out of my gaming time and making sure i get the most use of the benefits of playing video games.

Staying in shape doesn’t have to involve torturing yourself in the gym, or staying bored all the time away from your console. With some simple changes to your daily routine you can keep it simple by following these tips for what to eat for a balanced diet and practicing a moderate routine of exercise. Diet plays a big part on your health and that’s why my diet went from fast food to simple healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Some of the best foods you can eat are:

  • Fruits: Fruits give you many different vitamins and minerals that are essential for your body. Mango, Pomegranate, Blueberries, Avocado, and Oranges, are some of the best fruits you can eat.
  • Vegetables: Eating your veggies is one of the best advices your mom could ever gave you. Vegetables like Kale, Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Artichoke, Bell Pepper, and Spinach, are full of minerals that will help your body in ways that are beyond belief.
  • Meats: Protein is an important part of any diet but when it comes to meats it’s a good advice to stay away from red meats and change it for Chicken, Turkey, or Fish.

One of the great things about the Xbox is that it gives gamers like me the ability to stay in shape by playing one of their many fitness games. This is really the perfect exercise choice for dedicated gamers like me that would rather stay on their living rooms than drive all the way to a gym, and then all the way back home.
